Flyers

Here are few of the portraits I did recently. To keep cost down and get my hands dirty I opted to work on paper. To give the paper a ness I tore and stapled some bits to making appear as if the were flyers. Sorry about the poor quality photos on the last two I'll replace them.

Some bigger portraits and figures are on the way. Check my facebook page for updates and the No Secretes photo blog on how I make my paintings.

On the edge of nothing

Here are the last still life paintings I've completed.

The top one is Sometimes I drink to remember sometimes to forget Or composition in brown and Black, the following image is a detail of that painting. This was first I completed in the new studio, though the surface was made a year back. I wanted to make something that had a stagnant composition and simplified color scheme to concentrate on the reflection of the glass

The last two images are of To all my haters. The title is pretty self explanatory, I made the surface and the objects painted on it very intense and threatening. Basically I wanted to paint shit talking.

Next up are some portraits and full on figures
See you then, Chris

Get ready For Agora or The art of Illusion

Above are three views of my studio. At the top is day of show, following it is the scramble to clean and paint. The one directly above is how it normally looks.

Pretty sweet how I just pulled a fast one on um hun?

All The sculptures are my studio mate's Lauren Mudd she is freakin' awesome, don't sleep on her.

Also I finished a couple of pieces between now and my last post, I'll be getting them up shortly. My bad yawl. And if you haven't checked out Junction View studios in bustown Ohio, lots of good shows and people.

Have good one
Chris

Drawing the cartoon out of this shit

So, with the latest series of drawing I have not been working for life but rather making characterizations of women with their arms/legs bond. I really wanted to concentrate on the dimension in each drawing. Their believability rested on the gravity and value or tonality.

A brief view of the past year

These four paintings were done in the past year. As I began this series, I wanted to capture two things in each painting. One, a unique ground in which the still life would be painted. Secondly, an intimate and intense replication of the objects before me.

To achieve the the painting ground I sought inspiration from aging materials, eroded rock and concrete being a constant resource. There something amazing about the way things fall apart. Smooth surfaces give way to supporting structures that lay beneath them. Often after the fluid paint drys I would cut into them, similar to the crack, or fault lines in concrete sidewalks. I took liberty with this in To all my Collectors, as a center piece to the painting I carved my name in a crown.
a kick ass thunder storm just started peace

Ass Rot Studio has it's first apartment on the interweb

Ass Rot Studio is basically me, Chris Tennant. I am a painter from Columbus, Ohio in the good old USA. That is me above.

I am going to use this page to document the trials and tribulations of being me, making shit, breaking other shit.

And if anyone was wondering ass rot is what happens if you don't take care of swamp ass quick enough. Kinda like athletes foot for your butt...
